Weddings…

We’re attending a wedding on Saturday, at a local historical homestead (The Tocal Homestead).  It should be a lovely celebration at a lovely location.  Makes me think back on my own wedding to my dearly beloved hubby … and to the Apache Wedding Prayer that my sister read during our service.

 The Apache Wedding Prayer
“Now you will feel no rain,
for each of you will be
shelter for the other;
Now you will feel no cold,
for each of you will be
warmth to the other;
Now you are two, but there
is one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place
to enter into the days
of your togetherness
And may yor lives
be good, be happy,
and be long upon this earth.

I love it!

Kerry Greenwood…

Kerry Greenwood author of the Corinna Chapman series is one Australian author who I can really relate to, particularly her Corinna Chapman novels.

There is so much about Corinna Chapman that is so like me!!  I don’t think I have ever come across that before.  Not to this degree for sure.  Corinna is a character who is so real, with such realistic mannerisms, thoughts, outlook, looks … the whole kit and caboodle.  I am just disappointed that there are only three books in this series thus far.  !!!

Attitude…

I received this in the mail today … I don’t know who to attribute it too , if you can help me with that, that’d be great.  Thanks.

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well,” she said, “I think I’ll braid my hair today.”

So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

“H-M-M,” she said, “I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.”

So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

“Well,” she said, “today I’m going to wear my hair in a pony tail.”

So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn’t a single hair on her head.

“YEA!” she exclaimed, “I don’t have to fix my hair today!”

Attitude is everything.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly…….

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…

It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Blooming …

I am far from being a great gardener … but I do enjoy it when my garden is happy and healthy.  At the moment my winter blooming double camellia is so heavy in blooms that its weighing down the branches.  But its a very pretty display.

Handmade Soap…

Handmade Soap

So one of the things I very much like to do, is make soap. It gives me a great deal of pleasure to take the raw ingredients and turn it into something that is useful and good to use.

I first took a class in soapmaking back in Hobart, Tasmania, in 1995 … so that was my first introduction to it. And I was hooked.

Initially I took the class because I was taking all sorts of adult ed classes to meet people as I was new to the area. But over the years my body has developed intolerances to a lot of different things, including chemicals, and so handmade soap went from being something that was enjoyable to something that was necessary.

I’ll never go back to commercial soap now.

I will be sharing recipes and instructions for various bits and bobs in this blog so stay tuned for that too.
